Mr. Carlo Laghi relates about "Gonzaga 2012"

8th Market Show
BONSAI WORLD
10-11th March 2012
  Gonzaga (Mantova)

The appointment of  late winter to “Bonsai World” in Gonzaga was , in my opinion , tasty also for "The Fair Lambrusco  and Tastes”. But on Friday  March 9th evening, in the parking of the fair , I soon realized that the connected Fair of Tastes had been shifted in another  place and date.

But on Saturday morning tanks to the concerno of Mrs.  Laura Redini, organizer of the event, who has put me in contact  with the President of the local Social  Cellar and of Mr. Ettore  who has taken me to the neighbours  of   the store shop of the Social Dairy    and six  boxes of  Lambrusco  and 6 Kos. of  Reggiano Parmisan  have with my great satisfaction  finished in the ”wide holds” of my camper .

I was saying “Bonsai World” orphan of tastes , but connected to the “Fair of Toys” and this has brought  numerous  people  also in our pavillon  where in addition to stones and bonsai were also present  tables  with cultural  Japanese activities : Mrs. Sonia with her private collection of Japanese dolls  really beautiful but non for sale; Mrs. Miho teacher of kimono dressing , tea ceremony , of shodo , who had  on her table cloths, cups and tools for tea;  finally a Japanese girl  who wrote   dedicated  ideograms for people attending.

The exhibition of Mrs. Miho

Mrs. Sonia and her dolls

33 Clubs-Association  were present and 11 sellers . These the connected  events , during the Saturday:

opening ceremony of  the Exhibition, dinner , 1st part of the “Multi stands” theory, workshops on plants  by the members of Gonzaga Club, with Mrs. Miho  a wonderful kimono dressing ceremony and a tea ceremony  after dinner.

Mr. Andrea, husband of Mrs. Sonia, who has lived in Sapporo Japan  for many years, where he met Mrs. Miho, has translated  for us  the various  moments  of the ceremonies , enriching the waiting moments with the news  on the  unwinding of the daily  Japanese life.

The kimono dressing ceremony

The tea ceremony

The didactic moment on multi stands exhibition

Sunday morning free of activity but not for me and  AIAS member Mr. Roberto Rampazzo who have been engaged  of photos  After dinner , workshop of plants by expert Mr. Castagneri of Bonsai Time, felpe by Maurizio member of the Gonzaga Club, Mrs. Sonia has explained  and has let us see all the various dolls ; for us Aias members  the 2nd practical part on exhibitions in “multi stands”  playing  to put toghether different  composithions and trying to put black over white the guide-lines  following the dictates of Mr. Willi Benz.

The demonstration of Mr.Giorgio Castagneri

Also on Sunday AIAS ha discussed
on multi stands

What else to say: the hospitality of th Bonsai Club Gonzaga  and of Mrs. Laura redini , President of the Club,  was excellent ,  easily overcoming problems  caused by the increasing  number of legs under the tables (for description 120 people at lunch , 80 at dinner  on Saturday  and over 120 at lunch on Sunday).

The merry surprise has been the introduction of cultural Japanese activities  which have entertained  the present people .

The Saturday lunch....

... how many we were !

Let us speak of stones: 26 Aias members were present  of which 20 in activity. About sixty the stones  exhibited  19 of which in multi stands with up to 5 stones displayed  thus overcoming  the total number of stones.

Another surprise  at the awarding  and at greetings moments:

to all Club and partecipating Associations the certificate has been delivered , properly prepared  by Franco, and a package of Lambrusco  wine purposely labelled  for “Bonsai World”.

A sincere thanks from me and of all AIAS to the members of Gonzaga Bonsai Club and in particular to Laura, Franco, Ettore, Chiara, Giuseppe and Martino.

Good-bye  to next edition

ROCHERS DE LETTERS ET ITINERAIRES DE L’ART EN CHINE

(Scholars’ Rocks and Paths of Artist Creation in China)

Musée Guimet, Paris
28 March - 25 June 2012

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE EXHIBITION IS TO RENDER CHINESE SCHOLARS’ ROCKS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL BY PRESENTING A SELECTION OF EXCEPTIONAL STONES THAT HAVE BEEN TREASURED FOR GENERATIONS

The exhibition invites us to enter the studio of the Chinese calligrapher, artist and poet in order to grasp the “scholar’s spirit” and its quest to grasp the infinite. Including strange rocks as well as contemporary ink paintings, the exhibit encompasses the history and aesthetics of the Chinese scholar and allows us to appreciate certain paths of artistic creation in China that are still alive today.

Comments by Mr. Joseph Roussel:  France’s leading Asian Art museum has organized an exciting and innovative exhibit featuring stones, rock and landscape paintings by world famous artists Liu Dan and Zeng Xiaojun and various objects from the scholar’s studio.  Most of the stones are from a Chinese collection and have never before been exhibited.  Two well-known US private stone collections have also made loans.  At least one of the paintings was done specifically for the exhibit.  This is the first significant stone exhibit in a European museum and will be a truly exceptional event attracting stone enthusiasts from across the globe.   There will be an accompanying catalogue (in French only).

Mr.Thomas Elias and his wife Mrs. Hiromi Nakaoji, in the image on the left at the E.S.A. Congress in Ratingen, inform us about the birth of  VSANA, Viewing Stone Association of North America, a new web-based organization where visitors can learn about Asian stone appreciation focusing first on China where the practice originated.
"Our goal is to better understanding Chinese and other Asian countries precepts and principles relating to all aspects of appreciating natural stones as artistic objects. VSANA will attempt to disseminate this information to English speaking audiences worldwide.  Our first major effort is to launch a new web site www.vsana.org.
An advisory board of experts and leaders is assisting VSANA in maintaining, accurate, up-to-date information about Chinese stone appreciation and helping us in our efforts to promote traditional and modern views about these stones.  Featured articles, stone of the month, book reviews, historical information, galleries of stone types, news about current events and exhibits in China and other information will be posted on this web site.  New articles, reviews, and additional information will be added to the site approximately every six weeks.

Periodically, we will send out special messages, late breaking news, notices about major meetings and exhibitions.  If you would like to receive these notices from us, send us your e-mail address and we will add you as an online member.  Visit our site at www.vsana.org and click the “contact us” button at the bottom of the home page.

Finally, we want this site to be as useful and as informative to our readers as possible.  To accomplish this, we need your comments, questions, and recommendations.  Visit us often and see this web site expand significantly throughout 2012."

Mr.Carlo Laghi relates the 8th Suiseki Exhibition-Parade at Cusercoli Castle

 View of Cusercoli Castle

13th and 20th  November 2011

8th Suiseki Exhibition-Parade “ Castle of Cusercoli”

Castle of Cusercoli - (Forlì - Cesena)

Report by Mr. Carlo Laghi

Eight years have elapsed since when we, members of the Forlì Bonsai Club, decided to organize an exhibition  entirely dedicated to Suiseki.
The exhibition ,  programmed   on calendar  towards the end of the year ,   aimed to summarize  the action of its members   in the  suiseki field, tanks  to the help of the “Pro Loco Chiusa D’Ercole”   whom put at  disposal  the premises  just restored  up  to the Cusercoli Castle.
As dates we choosed the two November  Sundays  riserve to the  local “Feast of the  white vintage truffle of  Romagna”; this  event really attracted many people  who  did not know at all what  Suiseki  was.

So the spreading of this art started  and together  to it  also our  experience  and knowledge. The new findings  allowed  the public to examine  always new stones . In the last years we have improved  the  organizing  and divulgative aspect :  we have changed the  expository rooms, the television  with  the video cassette  recorder has given place  to the computer and to a pen-drive of a few centimeters  with a much higher content.

The scrolls with paintings , the haiku , the  judgements  of a friend  on the exhibition  are recent  things .

The advertising  posters  are a  novelty of this year :  as can be seen  from the photos , they are a summary  of all stones exhibited in all these years. With an acceptable  cost they have solved our  advertising problems  in our town , people  at once realize  what are Suiseki  and they come up with more  enthusiasm .

The premises of the exhibition : the fittings.

This year , in addition to Mr. Ulisse  and Mrs. Marzia Maccaferri  also  Mr. Claudio and Mrs. Cristina Nuti, have visited us, and all together  we  and them , have  spent  two days  of chattering, of plans for the future  and  also of libations.
Let us come to the stones  in exhibition : the 24 stones  have been  examined  by Ulisse as  judge, but  the  attendance of Claudio has  allowed u sto ask him a disinterested  judgement , which has roughly reflected that of Ulisse.

The  difficult  task of the examinators

As best stones have been  chosen :
“Far away summits”,   landscape stone  of Mr. Carlo Laghi
The dragon”,  object stone  of Mr. Attilio Valdifiori (stone voted also by the  public)
Oriental visions” ,  multi stand of Mr. Claudio Villa.
Mentioned    “Promise of life”  object stone of Mr. Ettore Gardini and  “Signs of violent wind”  ,  landscape stone of Mr. Claudio Villa.
The evening  was concluded, as always, with legs under the table  in the restaurant  riserve to us, “ The Picina”,   excellent the  menù proposed  to us.
Next year….. will surely see some further novelties.

Mrs. Daniela Schifano relates about the XIII Bonsai & Suiseki Exhibition “City of Frascati"

June, 10-12 2011

XIII Bonsai & Suiseki Exhibition "City of Frascati"

Palazzo Comunale di Frascati (Roma)

Report by Mrs. Daniela Schifano

6th Trophy Town of Poppi: report of Mr.Carlo Laghi

Poppi, 4-5 Giugno 2011

VI TROFEO BONSAI & SUISEKI

“Città di Poppi”

Report by Mr. Carlo Laghi
