"The Nippon Suiseki Association, founded in May 1961, held the first Nippon Suiseki Meihinten Exhibition in July that same year.
Since 2009, thanks to Jeff Amas's photographic and commentary work, the Internet Bonsai Association publishes a large account of the stones on display.
In 2010, the Nippon Suiseki Association celebrated the 50th Meihinten Exhibition by exhibiting the best Meiseki of its members. During the event, Mr. Matsuura was able to announce his withdrawal from the Presidency (Chairman of the Association) after over 20 years of active presence, accepting the role of Honorary Vice President and proposing to remain active in the Association "

Chris Cochrane: "Once again, Jeff Amas has generously sent 37 photos of the latest Nippon Suiseki Meihinten, which takes place in June at the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo. This year Jeff shares photos of the indoor exhibit, only. He notes that stones displayed in the outdoor exhibit were disappointing in comparison. He also noted that signage did not clearly draw folks from the heavily visited outdoor exhibit area to the indoor exhibit area. Attendance at the stronger indoor exhibit suffers as a consequence."
Thanks to the generosity of the suiseki fan Jeff Amas, resident in Japan, and his dear friend Chris Cochrane, as every year we have the chance to admire on the AIAS pages, comfortably seated at our actual location, in front of a world virtually reachable, photos of what was best exposed at the Meihinten 2018 in June. Thanks to these precious friends from our members and those who will soon become one (I'm sure) :)
Mrs. Luciana Queirolo
